Chain Link
Chain link is possibly the most versatile fence available. It can meet a variety of budgets and a variety of tastes while still remaining very secure. This fence style consists of round galvanized steel posts and a galvanized wire mesh that is helically woven together.
Residential Chain Link
Residential chain link is typically a lighter grade material since heavy use is not expected. It provides a good cost/use ratio. It is suitable for most home applications providing a simple but effective barrier and property delineation. Typical residential fencing is using 12.5 ga chain link fence fabrics, 1 5/8" diameter line posts with 1 3/8" top rail. D & C sets all posts in concrete footings for strength. Residential grade fences typically come in three heights depending on your use, 4', 5', or 6'. Residential gates are typical bent frame gates that are pre made to fit certain openings. However, it is not problem for D & C to use its fabrication shop to weld a custom size or for more discretionary buyers to desire a heavier duty welded frame gate. Typical terminal and corner posts for residential grade chain link is 2 /38" od posts set in 24" concrete footings.
Light Commercial Chain Link
Light commercial chain link is a lot better option for chain link fence applications. We have a light commercial grade in which we use 11.5 ga fence fabric compared to the 12.5 ga residential grade fabric. We also use a larger diameter line post, 1 7/8" for light commercial with a .065 wall thickness, along with a larger top rail, 1 5/8" x .065. This type of chain link fence is highly recommended for residential applications in harsher climates or with larger dogs. This grade of fence has more galvanizing applied to the materials than the residential thus increasing strength and longevity. For a small percentage cost increase please ask that we give you this option on your estimate.
Commercial Chain Link
Commercial chain link is another option for just a little stronger fence than the light commercial. We have a commercial grade in which we use 11 ga fence fabric. We also use a larger diameter line post, 1 7/8" for light commercial with a .065 wall thickness, along with a larger top rail, 1 5/8" x .065. This type of chain link fence is highly recommended for standard commercial applications. This grade of fence has more galvanizing applied to the materials than the residential and light commercial fabric thus increasing strength and longevity. For a small percentage cost increase please ask that we give you this option on your estimate. The frame work on this type of fence can by changed by changing the wall thickness of the posts and top rail to a heavier schedule 40 pipe.
Industrial Grade Chain Link
Industrial Grade Chain Link fencing is a very heavy duty chain link fence that is most often used in very harsh environments, heavy commercial properties, refineries, specked jobs, airports, bases, ect. Many standard commercial applications call for this type of fencing as well. This type of heavy duty fencing acts well for security being so much heavier. The typical fence fabric used is 9 ga with 1.2 oz of galvanized zinc coating. The galvanizing can be increased to 2 oz coating if so desired for a minimal price increase. Typical line posts for industrial grade chain link fencing is 1 7/8" diameter or 2 3/8" diameter depending on what is specified and desired. The top rail is 1 5/8" diameter and all frame work used is schedule 40 pipe.
Chain Link Fence Options
Vinyl Covered Chain Link Fence
One option that allows for a lot more custom look and actually really looks great for landscape and design, yet still offers great security is vinyl covered chain link fences. Typically for chain link fences you may want to have installed an all galvanized chain link fence but choose to use a color coated chain link fence fabric. This does not alter the price very much yet looks great. D & C offers many choices on color, most typical are green, black, and white. If you would really like to get an even better custom look you can choose to have all the posts, top rail, and fittings vinyl coated as well. This system is available in all grades of chain link. Make sure you ask about the different grades of vinyl coating as well. There is typical light grade vinyl coating that is over laid on chain link fabric and for a lot longer lasting there is the fuse bonded vinyl coated chain link fence.
Chain Link Fence Vinyl Privacy Slats and Windscreen
D & C Fence offers a wide variety of chain link fence privacy slats. We have color charts and samples that will fit almost any application for existing fences or new fences installed. Chain link privacy slats come many different ways, from the ribbed less expensive basic slat to the bottom locking slats. They also come in different percentages of privacy offered, from 75 percent to 90 and above privacy style slats.
Windscreen is used to apply to the outside of chain link fence fabric and can be used to help add some privacy as well as to help stop wind flow. It is most commonly used at tennis courts and baseball fields but has definitely been used in many other applications as well. From a business wanting more privacy to a residential house. It also comes in many different colors and can actually have logos or writing applied to screen for more custom look.
Commercial or Industrial Grade Add Ons
Barbed wire
This is a great add on to any commercial or industrial grade chain link fence. Typically this is added to the top of a new fence installed and can be added to existing fences as well. Standard is to install 3 strands of heavy duty class 3 galvanized barbed wire to the top of the new fence using 45 degree barbed arms or vertical barbed arms, which ever is requested.
Razor Ribbon
This is a great option for more added security, basically to do you best to keep your property very secure. Razor ribbon comes in many sizes and grades and is added to the bottom or top of a chain link fence and is installed in circular patterns. It's razor sharp edges work as a strong deterrent for vandals.
Commercial or Industrial Chain Link Gates
Swing Gates
There are many options for swing gates, there are typical walk thru gates at 3-5' wide for pedestrian access, there are single drive swing gates and there are double drive swing gates. D & C will build any gate any size. The type of materials used for the construction will depend on the gate opening and size. All these gates are welded construction and fabricated in the D & C fabrication shop.
Roller Style Gates
Chain link roller gates can vary in length and size. They can be custom built to fit just about any height or length desired. Roller gates are designed to ingress and egress into existing fence and roll on 2-horizontal 1 5/8" sch40 pipes that are attached to existing or new fence posts installed with heavy duty brackets. There are two rear roller wheels that attach to actual gate that sit on these two horizontal rails that support rear of gate for tracking and rolling. On the front ground end of the roller gate are roll gate ground rollers that vary in grade and sizes. A typical application where a roller gate is rolling on asphalt or concrete drive solid rubber ground wheels are used at 6" to 8". When the terrain is rougher or on caliches, limestone, or grass, air filled tire ground rollers are better. In industrial cases D & C will use heavy duty air filled tires and fill them with foam to make flat free. This cost more but is an excellent way to keep gate working properly without roller complications.
Cantilever Gates
Cantilever gates are an excellent choice. These are also a type of roller gate but the best thing about this type of gate is that the surround terrain/ground is irrelevant as to how the gate rolls and performs. This gate has not ground rollers and not part of the gate touches the ground. This gate is designed to be built 1.5 times bigger than the desired opening and is supported and hung off of 4" sch 40 heavy duty posts using typically 4- heavy duty cantilever rollers. The tail of the cantilever gate is designed in an x-welded section and balances the gate when in closed position to hang on rollers and posts. D & C offers heavy duty nylon cantilever rollers which are a great option, allow the gate to roll easier, and work really well in almost any application. If cost is an issue we also offer typical steel cantilever rollers that are hot dipped galvanized. This type of gate style is used mostly in commercial and industrial applications and works great when wanted to add a gate operator and automate gate.
V-Track Roller Style Gates
V-track roller style gates are used a lot here in this area and are a great long lasting easy maintenance style rolling gate. These gates are typically used when a customer desires a gate operator and access controls. These gates can be built using almost any material we offer, from chain link to vinyl to wrought iron and aluminum, as well as wood privacy. V-track gates are built using a galvanized frame and then the desired style of fence is attached. In order to install a v-track roller gate a good surface of asphalt or concrete is necessary to mount ground mounted angle iron to ground. Once the v-track is mounted to the ground in both the ingress and egress positions two heavy duty stainless steel ball bearing rollers are installed at each end on the bottom of the new gate frame in heavy boxed which will sit on the new track installed for guiding and rolling the gate back in forth. For top support and to keep gate on track there are heavy duty rubber roller guides installed that are attached to the gate post. What is nice about these gates is the gate is almost fully support by the ground v-track rollers thus not putting pressure on the gate posts. These gates are the most smooth rolling gates offered.
Other types of gates
